Willow planting base in the Northeastern China

This year, two-thousand Mu (equal to 1 333 hectares) of willows in the Changshuihe Farm received a bumper harvest, where the yield has exceeded 1,000 kg per Mu in Heilongjiang, Northeastern China.

Willow Cultivation Techniques

Willow (Salix integra) has high survival rate, thin and long stem, full of toughness, so it's a great kind of material for wickerwork and basketmaking. The crop once planted yields profitable returns for times. And it's cost-effective. Salix integra cultivation techniques and introductions now are described as follows:

Stem cutting until the work of selection cuttings, disinfection and cleaning, cutting into segments and storage are all finished.

First, remove the weak willow cuttings and keep the ones in high quality.

Second, deeper plowing and good land preparation.

Third, time and method of planting.

Fourth, timely harvest.

It is understood that the farm will expand willow planting area to 40,000 Mu (2,666 hectares) this year. In order to ensure survival rate, willow stem cutting should always adhere to high standards that space at least 20 cm, 8 cm apart, 3 lines on the ridge. Make sure that willow cuttings is kept 3 cm in heigt outside the soil, so that they grow and survive at once.
